Our Story
Founded in 1937
The Lago 51 Community Center was originally the Bethleham Lutheran Church for the Deaf at 5074 Lake St in Omaha. This church was founded in 1937 to serve the deaf community and remained active until the COVID pandemic in 2020. It was sold to a private individual in February 2025 with the intent to create a community center.
Donated in 2026
The property was donated to the Lago 51 Community Center in February of 2026. The center needs to be renovated to meet code standards, update plumbing and electrical and improve accessibility.
The building has a main floor chapel area suitable for meetings, small weddings and other events The bottom floor has an open area and partially finished kitchen.

We are currently seeking funding and donations to update the building for future events. We are confident that once completed, the Lago 51 Community Center will be able to serve the community as a meeting place for all.
